Income Protection
Anyone can become too ill to work or have an accident at any time. It is important to be able to concentrate on getting better, without any financial worries. For most of us, our income is our most important asset. It affects how we live and how we pay for everything from food, light and heating to our mortgage repayments, children’s education and family holidays.
The Illness benefit paid by social welfare is just €10,623.60 per year to an individual (subject to means test). If you are self employed you are not entitled to any benefit whatsoever. An Income Protection plan will provide you with a replacement income if you’re unable to work due to an accident, illness, injury or disability. And it’s often more affordable than you might think, especially as payments can qualify for tax relief.
